PHRASING METHOD / OBJECTIVES
Using technology to maximize efficiency
In academic contexts, there is a distinction between explicit learning and implicit learning. In the language sphere, this distinction is normally referred to as language learning vs language acquisition.
Explicit learning and language learning consists of flashcards, grammar explanations, conjugation tables. If you've ever taken a language course, used a language textbook, or tried Doulingo then you have first hand experience.
Implicit learning and language acquisition consists of listening to, reading, and conversing in any language. Any time you understand anything, you're subconsciously re-enforcing patterns in your brain. This is the process you used for your native language — everyone has first hand experience with this.
The first goal of the Phrasing Method is a matter explicitly learning that which you are unlikely to implicitly learn, in a manner that allows you to implicitly learn that which can be.
The second goal of the Phrasing Method is how can we leverage technology to make this simpler, more engaging and more efficient.
