Language log #001

Jun 17, 2025

What is a language log?

This is the first update, and I wanted to give as much exposure to my languages as possible, so here is 20 minutes of me speaking in English, Dutch, French, Italian and… I guess you could call that Portuguese?

Dutch, French, Italian and Portuguese

I think a lot of my dormant French and Italian have activated. I’ve definitely found myself talking to myself in these languages a lot more since I’ve started seeing them a bit. That’s not to say they’re at their peak, but I think 80% of the ‘random dramatic progress’ has transpired, so hopefully it’s a more realistic journey from here on out.

My Dutch is still rusty (I’ve probably only done 20 reviews in Dutch) so I do expect that to improve dramatically by the next update (despite minimal input)

I don’t think my Portuguese was ever a high enough level for any of it to come rushing back. I’ll probably make unfairly quick progress for a few months in Portuguese.

Macedonian, Welsh, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Arabic, Greek, Maltese, Turkish, Croatian, Lithuanian, Spanish, Sanskrit and Estonian

None of these languages I can remotely speak. For some reason here, I’m hunting for expressions that I know the best in every language. I guess for the first video, I should be hunting for the expressions I can speak the worst — but given that two months ago I didn’t know more than 3 words combined in all of these languages… well, they really all started from 0.

Viewer discretion is advices (I will be butchering many languages)
